Providence Journal: "R.I. lawmaker, Brown University students craft bill on climate change"

After the 2010 floods and superstorm Sandy, Handy said he realized the bill needed to tackle the question of the state’s resiliency to the severe weather and rising sea levels that climate change is expected to bring. Many state agencies are already working toward improving resiliency, “but it’s not really coordinated,” he said. Taking steps to mitigate and adapt to climate change can be good for the economy since businesses would benefit from safeguarding infrastructure they depend upon, said Handy. In addition, if Rhode Island can develop an expertise in resiliency, it might be able to develop an industry that attracts business from out of state. Read more at the Providence Journal...
